While I agree that muslims have the total right to build where they wish as long as all codes and local, state, and federal laws are abided by, I only question their wisdom to build so close to a site that will cause most Americans animosity toward muslims. To me, this is just stirring the pot for more hurt and yes bloodshed to come. What the city of New York should have done, was to enact ordinances to discourage any and all types of religious establishments so close to such "hallowed" ground as this is.
